Recognizing the Obvious jonathanzap on Xanga: "Many, or even most, of the significant problems in our lives are more about recognizing the obvious rather than discovering the mysterious or hidden. One of the most classic ways that we deceive and hide from ourselves, is by refusing to recognize the obvious and shrouding what is right before us in rationalization and false complexity. We often delay and deny necessary transformation by claiming that there is a mysterious answer hidden from us, when actually we know the answers but have various reasons to pretend that we don't."

This is all well and good, but the only means I'VE found for accessing reality is through LSD. Now, at age 63, I no longer have the connections and even if I had I'm not sure I could muster the courage. As a fan of J. Krishnamurti I'm loathe to admit to taking his advice, but with a nod in his direction I eschew any form of structured behavior. Even five minutes of meditation causes such deep confusion it can take hours to come out of it. Instead, I work at developing my appreciation of my lack of complacency by viewing it as a cherishable dimension of being human. But the all-pervasive anxiety that appears when I enter into urban environs makes it difficult to enjoy even the most mundane things. Oh, sweet Pythia, do you accept paypal?
