That quote works on my heart, pulling it up into my throat where it wants to strangle any words that try to make it past my lips. It’s a beautiful merging of earth and water ~ salt, water, tears, knowing.
I’ve settled on “knowing and helping” as the meaning of compassion. I can’t ignore your trials, I can’t dismiss your longings. I am called for something more, to serve as co-pilot on your journey, however brief. “Where two are gathered” is more powerful than one alone. Surely, there is healing there ~ for both of us."
